Unlock Samsung SGH J706 Mobile Phone

Wednesday, December 2, 2009

I just unlocked a Samsung SGH J706, which was locked to the Canadian wireless network Rogers.

Here’s how you can unlock your phone too.

1. Make sure that the battery is completely charged

2. Make sure the phone has the Rogers SIM card in it.

3. Now start the phone

4. Input this number combination in the keypad *2767*3855#

5. The phone display a message which tell you that the EEPROM is being reset

6. The Phone would then reboot & in my case the display language changed to French.

7. Now switch off the phone and change the SIM to the one you are intending to use ( In my case it was a Vodafone SIM)

8. Restart the phone.

9. Now type in the following combination into the key pad *7465625*638*00000000*00000000#

10. The zero’s would be represented as dashes ‘-‘. This is fine and no reason to panic

11. Once you have entered the above combination, enter this #7465625*638*00000000#

12. Again the zero’s would be represented in the form of Dashes ‘-‘

13. On entering the number as in Step 11, you do not see the numerals appearing on the screen, just press the call drop/disconnect key and try entering the number. It would work

14. Now to verify if the phone has been successfully unlocked type this code *#7465625# and you can scroll down all the locks to see if it is ‘INACTIVE’

15. Now restart the phone.

16. Enjoy using it with your new operator.

If this helped you, please do comment. Have fun :-)

Cheers
Dennis

This unlock is for educational & illustrational purposes only. Please do not attempt to do it in regions where it is deemed illegal.

PS: I had major troubles trying to get the back/battery panel of the Samsung SGH J706. The easiest way to do it, is by using a Rubber Kitchen Gloves (by 3M) which have grips in the finger tips.
